Updating Sproket

Follow the steps below to update your Sproket version.

Step 1:

To install Sproket manually you must upload both .sppkg files into the SharePoint App Catalog.

Select the Sproket icon at the bottom left of your SharePoint homepage.

Step 2:

Select “About”, then select “Manage Subscription”. This will take you to the Sproket Portal.

Step 3:

Under “Installation”, there is a table that shows you the latest version of Sproket, as well as your installed version of Sproket. If the latest version is newer than your installed version, you will need to update Sproket. To do this, click each of the Sproket Library and Sproket 365 to download and save the most recent versions to your local desktop.

Step 4:

Navigate to your SharePoint admin centre. Click “More features” on the left-hand navigation bar, then click on the Apps link. Your tenants App Catalog will open.

Step 5:

Click the “Apps for SharePoint” link on the left navigation bar.

Step 6:

Drag and drop the updated sproket-library.sppkg file into the document library.

When you upload, a prompt will display saying “A file with the same name already exists”. Click the “Replace It” button as we want to replace the existing file with the updated version.

Step 7:

A second prompt will display like the one shown below. Make sure to tick the box “Make this solution available to all sites in the organization”. Even if you don’t want Sproket in each of your site collections, for this library file you must tick this box. Select “Deploy”.

Step 8:

Confirm that the “Upload Completed” green banner has appeared.

Step 9:

Drag and drop the updated sproket-365.sppkg file into the document library.

Step 10:

A second prompt will display like the one shown below. Make sure to tick the box “Make this solution available to all sites in the organization”. Even if you don’t want Sproket in each of your site collections, for this library file you must tick this box. Select “Deploy”.

Step 11:

Confirm that the “Upload Completed” green banner has appeared.

Note: if you prefer you can deploy the .sppkg files to a Site Collection App Catalog. For this to work you must ensure you still check the “Make this solution available to all sites in the organization”.


Congratulations, you have now updated to the most recent Sproket version. Note that it may take 5-10 minutes after uploading to see the updates reflected in SharePoint.
